FAB - Brazilian presidential airplane - (VC-1A) - 8k-resolution - Fenix A320
The Presidential Aircraft of Brazil is an Airbus A319CJ model aircraft that was assembled in Hamburg, Germany already with the painting of the VC1A FAB, and officially named Santos-Dumont. Currently the plane is occupied by the current President of Brazil Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, having previously been used by Jair Bolsonaro, Michel Temer, Dilma Roussef and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva himself during his first terms as president during the years 2003 to 2010.
History
At the end of 1999, after a serious incident during the official trip of then Vice President Marco Maciel to China, the Brazilian government decided to no longer use the former Boeing 707 of the Presidency, known as "Sucatões", opting to charter aircraft according to the agenda of international commitments. The charters began to be made from 2000 on Airbus A330-300 aircraft, leased from TAM, a company that won bidding opened by FAB, in a "wet lease" system. The internal configuration of these aircraft was the same as that used in passenger transport, and the crew and on-board service were provided by TAM itself.
From 2003, on the grounds that spending on charters was high, and considering the financial unfeasibility of keeping in use the old "Sucatões" as aircraft for transport of the Presidency, the Brazilian Government chose to acquire a more modern, economical and safe aircraft for exclusive use in official trips, both domestic and international
