POIs to Pleasant Photogrammetry Landmarks with NIGHT LIGHTING! - ROME ITALY
Flying in Rome at night is extremely disappointing as it's almost impossible to know what you're looking at -- as MSFS has very little lighting for Rome. I've added many thousands of lights. If you see landmarks you think I should add to this project (add POI & Lighting) -- please send me the information so I can add them and update this file.
I'm including a few before | after pics -- to see the difference in the lighting.
Here were the goals of this POI Landmark Lighting MOD:
- Include some things that could easily be missed (e.g. a section of an anciety wall or an ancient aqueduct)
- Not an overwhelming amount of POI markers (only ~90)
- All markers translated to English
- All markers to only landmarks that have photogrammetry
- POIs only to Landmarks that are interesting and / or eye grabbing
- Include a small level of additional detail beyond the name (e.g. adding dates)
- POIs must highlight landmarks that can be made visible during night flying
- Add lighting to every single landmark that a POI points to!
Grab a slow plane or a helicopter and Enjoy Rome in a New Way!

Wow, thanks! This is mod is my new gold standard for night lighting, it adds a whole new dimension to the city... first time I've actually enjoyed exploring a city at night! I haven't seen anything even close to this. The area around the colosseum is particularly cool. More, please! Two suggestions: 1) Of all default photogrammetry cities I think Venice is easily in the direst need of fixing, vast sections are totally dark... any chance? 2) Since obviously we need this type of lighting in every city, I'm sorry but you're clearly going to have to teach some more people how you did this!

Thanks for your gracious comments! Hmmm... I wonder where I would post instructions on how to do it? It's actually VERY easy. Perhaps https://www.avsim.com/ ? I hate https://forums.flightsimulator.com/ because they constantly lock and shutdown topics. Would you be interested in collaborating? if you provided me the name and coordinates (in English) of each POI you want lit, I'll light them for you! Something in a format like I used for Rome; ideally in Excel, Google Sheets, or at least with Tabs between the data in word or a text file. For example:
POI | LATITUDE | LONGITUDE
1292BC Egypt Obelisk... | 41.9106832766159 | 12.4763660791975
6th c. BC Circus... | 41.8860733317796 | 12.4854174129963
241BC Viaduct via Aurelia... | 41.9025713342613 | 12.4419179745762
For some reason, I wasn't notified that you had replied to my post... hopefully I can figure out how to fix that so it's not a month before I see your reply. :o)
