One could consider the Green Bank observatory is the birth place of radio astronomy.
It hosts several historical radio-telescopes in an aeria preserved from human radio-pollution.
The 100 meter giant dish, at Green Bank, is the biggest radio telescope of this kind.
You may like to visit many other observatories with my Giant Telescopes project, here : https://flightsim.to/file/12401/giant-telescopes

Please consider Haystack observatory in Westford, MA. It's a major landmark for the area, and I've always used it to help guide me to KASH and elsewhere around the Northwest Boston area

It is not in VA. This is located in, as the name states, Green Bank, WV, it is located on the "National Radio Quiet Zone", and there is no cellular service for several miles, and all the vehicles around the observatory are old and do not use any modern tech, instead, they are regular old carburetor. All this is to prevent interference.

Another nice addition. Can I suggest you put the location in your title or description?

Takeoff westbound from Green Bank airport WV52. The dish should be right off the runway. It's in the middle of nowhere west of Shenandoah, VA.

Thank you! Every time I see a telescope I know it's coming from you and it's gonna be full of details!

Thanks a lot. This is my personal challenge, cover all the main observatories around the world. I am not so far from the final goal with more than 20 observatories already published...
