As an Alpha/ beta tester, it was a common complaint for a huge number of us that the autogen tree height in MFS2020 was way too large. It seems like nothing was really done about this, and here we are at the end of 2021 and still the trees are ridiculously tall. (Not the photogrammetry trees, but the autogenerated ones)

I found one simple XML file that , when certain numbers are tweaked, adjust tree height for the majority of the Conifer and Deciduous trees .

FYI, appreciate your efforts, but sadly this mod has zero effect on the trees in and around the hills of Los Angeles where tree density should be very sparse with brown hills and bushes dominating. The view homes in the hills above Hollywood are buried in jungle and it looks more like the Amazon rainforest than southern California. I've tried removing my Bijan mods and adjusting trees down to low in the sim, but nothing changes at all. It's not a conflict with photogrammetry, either because the homes are all the standard scenery building shapes from the AI's best guesses and not at all based on satellite photography.

What is "brilliant"? This mod does not do anything for the current game version. Fly to italy, Rome for example and check the trees with or without this addon. There is no difference, it just don´t work.

The developer of this got submerged abd does not say a word about this, which speaks for it´s own...

Don´t get fooled... this addon is not working currently.

checked on one scenario where I did not fly with this mod, but where I know exactly tall trees than they should be in reality. you're right. I thought the mod was working. perhaps it works partially, only in certain parts of the world, with a certain type of tree? I don't know how to check it. but I swear by the heron, I'm sure that flying over indonesia, I saw something similar from above, as in the pictures for this mod. I have also revised my assessment. thanks for correcting me.

Rome has photogrammetry trees, so this package i made only works on autogen trees. So if you are flying in downtown Rome city, these trees are not even active there . Also, the reason i take cant always reply in a timely manner is that i am a doctor full time, and dad of three teenagers. If i make this free for you and for myself, its in my own limited time. But thanks for your patience and in trying it out.

if by "photogrammetry trees" you mean those that are available on high-quality 3D maps, then I understand what this mod is about. and all other trees are "autogenous". Thank you for your work, your time and for sharing!

Your mod seems to clash with WU9. If I use it I get missing trees in Southern Italy, Sardinia and Corsica.

Something else: i found something in the official forums. A user found out, that the trees are getting huge, if photogrametry is activated. Whe ndeactivating it, trees seem to be normal sized. Maybe this has some buggy influence, too...

I only checked this addon in Rome (SU9) so far. For easier reference, i used this POI, to spawn a new flight at the exact same position during my tests:

No matter, if i use this addon or not, i got this "jungle" in MSFS:

See the gardens around the church, MSFS shows there way too many and way too high trees. The gardens are fully covered by trees in MSFS.

Checking another mod, fully deactivating all trees and only keeping the photogrametry, you see those gardens around the church again:

But those photogrametry trees and vegetation looks a bit "rough" and "edgy"... so MS/Asobo seems to cover any photogrametry vegetation by huge amounts of ingame trees...

So the ingame trees look nice, they are just way to large and high. So there - as i would understand it - comes YOUR addon into consideration. Making those ingame trees smaller could be a good compromise between "way too high" and "uglier ones by only using photogrametry".

It´s just: i don´t get ANY difference, if i use your addon or none... the trees are NOT scaled in any ways, it seems to me. At least for this region i heavily tested so far.

Could you please check this, if you see any chances to fix this?

HI, great mod!I actually changed the notepad to make the trees zero '0' so I could remove them - allowing for the google earth trees to show and the graphics run faster and cleaner...would you also be able to do one for the auto gen scenery so that I could also adjust or totally remove autogenic buildings in the same way? I did this in x plane and used tiles only (except airports) and it looked and worked very well! just a note-im not sure the shorter trees mod is working with latest update but hopefully you can adjust that soon. Most grateful and will buy you a coffee/donate if you can do the same for buildings 😀

Sure, I changed the max height AND minimum Height to 0 (zero) keeping in the actual vegitation list but of course it was now 0 and nothing to see...can we do for autogetn buildings also?

Can you edit the .xml file and make trees even smaller. Central Park in New York City is still way overgrown.

Is there a reason why this mod messes with other mods like this one for example:

With your TreeHeight mod active, it makes the removed trees in the landing area of St. Bart large again.

Basically inverts why that mod is doing with removing / downsizing the trees in the landing area of St. Bart.

Does your mod UPSCALE scrubs and bushes?

Or does it only affect trees?

I left a note at the TFFJ mod page, the creator said it's a property of MSFS.

Does this mod conflict with the switzerland tree removal, too? Or just with TFFJ?

Well this mod here really does something strange. Im my case (in Switzerland with my MountainTreeFix Mod), it shortens trees (which is good, that's the idea), keeps bushes/scrubs at the same size (which is fine too), but it completelly deletes all grass LOL.

And it messes with St.Barts.

So I don't know but I'll hope the mod will be "fixed"/improved.

It should not affect other mods, delete grass or whatever.

Just fyi, it seems like, for some reason, that this mod conflicts with superspud's TFFJ St. Barts mod, and puts trees to places where the mod removed the trees from. I tested this by having only these two mods active, and even tried changing the order. I'm just putting this out there in case this could be solved in the future. I shared the same info with the TFFJ mod creator, too. Great stuff, by the way, cheers!

Excellent mod, though your screenshot seem to show a beautiful variety in height and species that i can't replicate... no matter where i fly, it's all uniformly and either pine- or deciduous trees? can you give a location esepcially noticable in the first four screenshots?

I know re the tree's, they seem far to eager to release new content than fix old 😞 I fly a lot around LA and hills thereabout are not only plagued by high trees but far too many of them.
