Norwegian pilots flew Spitfires throughout WW2 and well into the Cold War. During the war, Norwegian pilots flew as part of the Royal Air Force, and served with distinction throughout the European theatre of operations
In 1946, the UK Government agreed to supply the resurrected Royal Norwegian Air Force with enough Spitfires to equip three day fighter squadrons and three photo reconnaissance aircraft.
The three examples included in this package depict these three Spitfire PR Mk IX’s in post war service towards the ends of their careers in the 1950’s.
